Wolf Park Hours of Operation We are open in the Winter for HowlNight Saturday evenings. Special arrangements can also be made in advance for private tours during the day for a minimum of $35.00 by calling (765) 567-2265 during regular business hours M-F or by e-mail.

The present entrance fee is $4.00 ($5.00 for Sundays) for persons 14 and older, and free for everyone 13 and under when with their family.

Generally held in the morning before regular open hour, school tours can be scheduled for any time of the year by calling the park at (765) 567-2265 during regular business hours, or E-Mail Wolf Park. For larger groups, special rates are available. Please call or e-mail for details.

WOLF HOWL NIGHTS on Saturdays at 7:30 PM, year round
and on Fridays at 7:30 PM May 1st to November 30th.

Visitors can see the wolves at close range, and hear lectures about wolves in general and our research results specifically. These are presented by researchers or docents in front of the wolf enclosures.

• THE ANIMALS: Currently we have 17 wolves in packs or singly, a small herd of bison, a coyote and three red foxes. All of the animals are kept in a semi-natural situation and are fed carcasses of deer, calves and cows - i.e. a natural meat diet like in the wild. All of our wolves are HAND-RAISED from the time they are very small. This reduces stress from living in captivity, makes it possible to handle them, and allows medical treatment with a minimum of trauma. In spite of this the wolves maintain all their natural behavior patterns.

• WOLF - BISON DEMONSTRATIONS: Wolf Park is the only known facility where wolves are temporarily placed in an enclosure with a small herd of American bison. We study the way in which wolves test the bison for possible weakness, and see how the bison defend themselves and their calves against wolves. Since the bison are healthy, they do not get killed or wounded, as they are quite capable of defending themselves. This demonstration can only be seen by our visitors each SUNDAY during open season, weather permitting. The presentation starts at 1 PM, followed by the demonstration at 2 PM.

• ADOPT-A-WOLF PROGRAM: This program enables wolf lovers to make more substantial contributions to the maintenance of our wolves. They can do so by donating $125.00 per year to support a wolf. More than one person or group will support a particular wolf, and the wolf can be of the sponsor's choice or our recommendation. Sponsors receive quarterly up-dates of the wolf's activities and important events in its life. The sponsor also receives photos and some shed wool of their wolf. When sponsors visit the park, with advance notice, for those 18 and over, we can arrange for them to go in the enclosure with their wolf, or with a stand-in. Ask for details about this and other membership opportunities.

• EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS: Each year Wolf Park accepts a small number of interns to help with raising animals, maintaining the facilities, giving tours, etc. They pay $120.00 per month for dormitory space, and are responsible for providing their own food. They work for the opportunity to spend time here learning about wolves. Most interns who are students also receive academic credit from their home institutions for time spent at Wolf Park. A minimum stay of three months is required.

  Also available is the four week ETHOLOGY PRACTICUM. Practicum students pay $470 which includes the dormitory fee. We provide dormitory space and kitchen facilities, and students provide their own food. This is an opportunity to spend time observing wolf behavior and doing a research project. Participants can work in the park if they want to as well.

• FIVE DAY WOLF BEHAVIOR SEMINARS are being held, usually in June, August and October. They are based on the behavior research carried out at Wolf Park since 1972. They consist of lectures, discussions, films, video and slide presentations, extensive observations of wolf behavior and some hands-on experience with wolves in a pack situation and, when possible, with pups.

  Please write or call for more information or to make arrangements for internships, the ETHOLOGY PRACTICUM or the WOLF BEHAVIOR SEMINARS. Since we can take only a limited number of participants, it is best to decide when you want to attend as early as possible.

• EXTENDED VISITS TO WOLF PARK: The foundation offers opportunities for study not only to researchers, but also to students and anyone else who may wish to observe wolves. There is usually a donation required for this privilege. Write us for more details.
